It is set in a sm in all town in Alabama called Maycomb. Maycomb, analogous most small southernmostern towns, has a problem with far-flung racism toward Negroes. The novel focuses on one family, the Finches. In the family in that location are three people, lookout man, Jem and Atticus. Atticus is a lawyer and is fend for a Negro man in court (Tom Robinson), something that was not often done in the south due to racism.
